SM Entertainment to Debut a Multinational Male Idol Group in 2012?

SM Entertainment, the entertainment agency behind the careers of some of K-Pop’s most popular groups, is said to be looking at launching a new all-male group of Korean, Chinese and Japanese members in 2012, local news agencies reported. The idea of launching a multinational group is aimed towards targeting a wider international audience base.

The report further said that although the number of members of the group is yet to be decided, all the members will participate in activities as smaller units and all together as a group - a strategy that SM Entertainment already employs with Super Junior.

The last group that SM launched was f(x), in the latter part of 2009. In the past years, the company has reached various global audiences by taking their acts, particularly DBSK, Super Junior, SNSD, SHINee and f(x) on “SMTown Live World Tour” concerts in Asian, European and US cities.

Fans are expecting an exciting year ahead for K-Pop as another leading entertainment company, YG Entertainment has recently revealed plans of debuting new artists.
